Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff”, she throws her Coke in his face.

But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.

Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

Very different from the movie but loved it anyway. Good narrator. I enjoyed it a lot!

OK, so I watched the movie a while ago, and I accidentally found the book the other day. As other's have stated, it's nothing like the movie. The names are the same, and that's about it. That being said, I really enjoyed the story still. I wasn't sure about the narrator at first, but she grew on me. I'll definitely come back for another listen from time to time.

A little more of an R rating, opposed to the movie

I really enjoyed this book! I love the way we see these characters transform so much throughout the story. As their layers were peeled back and I saw the heart of who they really are, I feel harder and harder for them.

This book does a great job of showing the struggles teens face in high school, and the value of good friends. It made me laugh and cringe a bit at times with memories of that time in my own life.

I read this book originally, but I did enjoy listening for a reread.

Such a great book!

This book is about 10 times better than the movie. But.... it's also very different too. The performance was mediocre but what really got me was the emotions in the story :)

Really good story
