The Dance is a book about love, family and friendship, and learning how to dance with life's constant spin.

Dog trainer Jacky Applebaum is focused on one thing - making up for a grave misunderstanding that damaged her relationship with her 15-year-old stepdaughter, Sophie. They are suffocating under the pressure of hurt and guilt. Old wounds begin to heal between them when a spirited beekeeper named Brooke Hastings contracts Jacky to train her overly-protective dog, Bee. A mutual affinity grows instantly between them, an affinity Jacky won't allow herself to embrace. But, the heart knows what it needs. Meanwhile, Brooke hires Sophie as her assistant in the bee apiary. A trust forms, and soon Sophie begins to feel alive again as she comes face-to-face with the many parallels between her and the honeybees she nurtures.

Just as they learn to open up and dance with life again, a hurtful truth reveals itself. Will this truth set them free, or unravel all they've come to learn about life?

This was a beautiful, thought provoking story. A deeper glimpse into the lives and thoughts of three people who had tragedy and fears and hopes of their own, individually and collectively working through these to makes sense of their lives. The thoughts nd fears of Sophie and they way she evolved throughout the story were deep and heart breaking. How she came to terms with all that happened was wonderful to see. Jacky and Brooke's relationship was fascinating and sweet to watch. Heart aching at times but genuine and sweet. This was an excellent story.

Wonderful story!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this Audible edition of The Dance. Clara Nipper does a good job with the narration.I wished she used a little more inflection in her reading. But it does not detract from the excellent book. Message of this book: Watch your mouth and what comes out of it. Think before you speak, especially in anger.

Enjoyable.

Where does The Dance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The last audio book I have listened to was Fountainhead book on cassette, so my experience here is way out of date. The Dance is ranked the highest as it has reminded me how fun it is to have something read to me, especially a book I read and loved already.

If you could take any character from The Dance out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Jackie, mainly because I love when character flaws and difficulties are presented and then I can watch how the character navigates through them. We all love the perfect characters for their perfections. I love the characters that teach me something, or validate things I have experienced myself.

I love how a story comes alive when read out loud

The narrator was absolutely terrible, but I loved the story despite the preachy standpoint of the writer.

wonderful story terrible reader
