An unmissable thriller from the number one bestselling author.

Who do you trust when everyone's guilty?

Marky Bishop is dying. That's why they've given him a compassionate early release, only where can a career criminal like him go to spend his final months?

From the outside, Glenfarach looks like a quaint, sleepy, snow-dusted village, nestled deep in the heart of Cairngorms National Park, but things aren't what they seem. The place is thick with security cameras, and there's a strict nine o'clock curfew, because Glenfarach is the last safe haven for people who've served their sentences but can't be safely released into the general population.

For Detective Constable Edward Reekie, this was supposed to be a simple delivery job—drive his new boss up to HMP Grampian and collect Marky Bishop, take him to Glenfarach, then head back home again. Nothing dangerous or complicated.

So how could it all go so horribly wrong?

The weather's closing in, tensions are mounting, and time's running out—something nasty has come to Glenfarach, and Edward is standing right in its way....

Slightly fantastical but very entertaining. Such a creative mind at work. Highly recommend this book and hope it's the start of a series.

1st Audible book experience with Stuart MacBride. Wow! A true journey indeed.

You can't help but fall in love with Detective Constable Edward Reekie. Really, you can't. The narrator did a spot on job with the narration of this audible. The different character voices he created were different from the next and some irritating. I love the name Victoria, but the voice given to her was unexpected. You gotta love it.

I listened from one chapter to the next as the story opened up before me then in one shocking second I got whiplash from what happened. What the... you will not see it coming. Still, Edward was steadfast.

The town of Glenfarach is not a good town and the foundation of why it is there is heartbreaking, but our trusted Detective face death with courage. Really. Poor Edward.

integrated start, confused by the 2 authors and various voices, BUT! ended up loving the performances, and it gave the twists and turns the most brilliant 'hang into your seat' edge. This is easily my favourite Macbride Audio book narration! Typically Brilliant story from Macbride - you cannot predict anything!

As always Stuart McBride tells a riveting, grim, twisty and bleakly funny story. Excellent performance from both readers.
