Most of us face the same questions every day: What do I want? How can I get it? How can I live more happily and work more efficiently?

Whether you're a chronic second-guesser or just eager for new ways to look at your world, Mikael Krogerus and Roman Tschäppeler will teach you how to improve your understanding of the dilemmas you face and how to make better decisions every day.

Taught in MBA courses and elsewhere, The Decision Book contains classics like the Swiss cheese model for reviewing mistakes and the personal performance model for testing whether or not to switch jobs.

This revised edition includes a model for identifying cognitive biases and the expectation model to help you choose a life partner. The Decision Book is the perfect reference to consult at any crossroads.

This book is very good for exploring different processes of decision making and organizing thoughts. It will probably have to live on your bookshelf for a while as a reference type of book. I would recommend it to anybody who is in a position of making tough and difficult decisions.

Methodical and effective

Listen then buy written copy for diagrams! Decision-making rubrics and quotes most that valuable (for deep introspection and open up options for tough decisions) mixed with others surprisingly shallow, trivial and dumb, like when you can’t decide which car to buy, let the seller choose or lower your hopes/ dreams/ expectations and eliminate all but 3 things you want, all either bad ideas and/or super obvious .

Missing PDF content referred to often and some aren’t described and thus must buy book to use some decision strategies, ed but the 14 criteria NOT read to listener. Still worth listening to get what you can and buy the physical book to implant the rest later.

Many useful quotes that are as memorable and valuable as the rubrics themselves in assisting decision making, such as “I’d rather regret things I did do than those that I didn’t” (Lucille Ball), that so inspire bias toward action rather than delay/ holding back from testing things, all in a conveniently brief package.

I am rereading it now and paused to re-rate and upgrade my earlier review because there was a Lou I couldn’t retain the first time through.

Uneven quality but brief and well worth reading, lacks pdf

Perhaps this is a book better read, not listened to. I found it quite dull to listen to and don’t think I took much away from it. It feels like 4 hours of someone reading you a point form list.

Dull to listen to

This would be a good book but it is very limiting in audio format. 3 stars
