This story felt like a 16 bit video game and old short stories I've read or heard. I like the different characters and artifacts which lend to the old game feel. but like I said also old short books which you'd find in old bookshops.

The 16 bit feel.

I got recommended this author by a friend and decided to give him a try. I was told he is a good Christian author(which to his credit that is the main focus), but a bad book is a bad book

I normally don't throw my credits to books less than 8 hrs, but saw that Demon's Eye was free and gave it a listen to. I am glad I started with the free one.

1) So many unanswered questions- Through out the book it felt as if I was listening to a book 2 instead of a stand alone book. There were undercurrents, connections, and vitriol that was put out there with little to no explanation. I kept waiting for some background on many points made, but it never got satisfaction.

2)World building- The world is still a mystery to me and I finished the book. It is extremely one dimensional and flat. ties into point 1 due to references made to prior kingdoms with 0 explination and history. Unlike many series/books ive read, I couldn't care less what happens to this world.

3) Time blindness- did this happen over years? Days? weeks? idk there is no time references

4) Action let down- there is no tension in the important action or problem moments. They stumble into them suddenly, stress for maybe 5-10 narration minutes, stumble upon a spoon fed answer, then easily succeed.

5) has the feel of an AI written book touched up by human hands. The first bad group that assults MC have names, but were never introduced, TONS of hanging historical details left unanswered, and how each action and important event are wrapped up extremely quickly and seemingly segmented apart from eachother are all signs of strong AI influence.

Overall, I will not be recommending this author to anyone. There are a litany of things I could complain about, but i have wasted enough time on this book.

I really wanted it to be good.... it wasn't
