John Easterling, an investigative reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, covers the police blotter for the city. He stumbles upon a bizarre case of child murders and mutilations. He isn’t restricted by the police’s limited view of the world that crimes are committed only by people; other forces haunt places like Lincoln Park. On his journey, he gains invaluable help from Lorraine, a physic who holds a secret which, when revealed, explains her uncanny abilities. Also aiding him is the ring of Solomon, unearthed by Barry, an archaeologist at the University of Chicago, and by John’s girlfriend, Ellen. John and his friends delve into the dangerous world of demons, witches, trolls, goblins, and devils, coming face to face with Agrat bat Mahlat, Queen of Demons, fighting their way through the seven circles of Hell.
