Gwinny is at a stately home in the Yorkshire Dales, filming a small part in a gender-swapped remake of Dracula while looking after the dog of an elderly friend who lives nearby. During filming, an actor is found dead inside a locked trailer—with a stake through their heart! The film's star, an obnoxious big-shot Hollywood actress who once played a cop on TV, decides she will solve the crime. But Gwinny isn't impressed, and they clash as both women mount rival investigations.

Well written, well read, but I guessed the culprits. I’m quite willing to listen to another one.

Enjoyable listen

The third time is indeed a charm! I am addicted to his series, which I have the joy of listening to, via the incomparable Ms. Nicolette McKenzie, who performs all the characters.

This time, Gwinny, the retired actress has been able to get a role in a gender swapping movie called "Draculania". One of her former acting friends has an accident. Gwinny offres to dogsit Lilly, her rambunctious jack Russell while the movie is filming, and is compelled to investigate the murder of a young fellow actor who is found dead in his locked trailer with a stake through his heart.

The pace of this book is faster and the dramatic scenes are just as fun as in the previous 2 books. There are several LOL moments also.

There are several new characters to enjoy as we sleuth along with Gwinny, trying to find out the perpetrator's name and motive. Good luck with that...the ending will tell it all, which includes revelations about hidden secrets.

It was fun to learn about Jack Russells and the romantic interests of Gwinny and the retired police detective. Quite fun!

I highly recommend this mystery series, and am starting on book 4 now, hoping there will be more in the future.
