Six years ago, when Lady Amarantha Vale was an innocent in a foreign land and Gabriel Hume was a young naval officer, they met...and played with fire.

Now Gabriel is the dark lord known to society as the Devil's Duke, a notorious recluse hidden away in a castle in the Highlands. Only Amarantha knows the truth about him, and she won't be intimidated. He is the one man who can give her the answers she needs.

But Gabriel cannot let her learn his darkest secret. So begins a game of wit and desire that proves seduction is more satisfying - and much more wicked - the second time around....

Contains mature themes.

I really like the hero. He’s honorable, constant in his affection, passionate and quite handsome, according to the author’s description. (I don’t picture him looking anything like the cover art, with its weak jawline, weird posture and cheesecake pose. Don’t let that put you off the book.)
The heroine is a great character also. Katherine Ashe does a wonderful job of showing how an impulsive, curious and naïve girl evolves into a fearless, compassionate, and committed young woman.
The chemistry between the couple is sizzling. When they finally get around to acting on it, the intimate scenes are so well written that even narrator Mary Sarah couldn’t spoil them.
Mary Sarah was her usual annoying, overdramatic, breathy, hard-to-understand self.

I thought the story was good I like the characters and then Rita did a great job. I thought it was just a little too long.

Good but to long

Love the twits of the story until the important reveal at the end . Don’t skip chapters :-)

This is one of those books that you have to judge for yourself. I was hesitant to listen to it but am so glad I did. The character development was great. I found the pace to be exactly what was needed for the story based on the FMC and MMC personalities. The narrator did a great job with this one. Normally I struggle with her narration and voice but this book was a great fit for both.

It’s a great book

Wow. How can an author, in good conscience, along with the editor, create such an absurd, silly, ridiculous and stupid heroine?? After 5 1/2 years, Amy says that she had “changed and was no longer the unworldly young girl”. Yes, she changed, but back into a toddler. This book was absolutely annoying and awful. The only thing that was passable was the narration. Hard pass on this author.

Wildly Irritating
