Strong as a Viking. Handsome as Adonis. Rich as Midas. Collin "Cole" Talmage, Duke of Trewyth, is the stuff that legends are made of. He's the English Empire's golden son - until fate has its way with him. Cole's family is killed and his closest comrade betrays him on the battlefield, leaving him gravely injured. But Cole is not one to dwell on misfortune. He is a man of duty, honor, and desire. And now he's ready for the fight of his lifetime....

Imogen Pritchard is a beautiful lass who works in a hospital by day and as a serving maid at night. Years ago, when she was young and penniless, she ended up spending a scandalous night with Cole, whose tormented soul was matched only by his earth-shattering passion. Imogen entered a marriage of convenience - one that left her a wealthy widow - but she never forgot Cole. Now that her long-lost lover has turned up in her hospital, injured and with no memory of her, Imogen is torn. Is it a blessing or a curse that their past remains a secret to Cole, even as his new passion for her leaves him wanting to protect and possess her at all costs? Contains mature themes.

Best audiobook of the series, brings every emotion of a romance that is possible. Also feels like they make two steps forward only to retreat because of the males egotistical temperament. But they finally have a wonderful happy ending.

The best of the series

This one was a little on the mean side more than the others. I don't think I would have put up with this Duke!

great series.

I love KB’s stories of her brutal men who’ve been brought to their knees with love. Cole and Imogen were a great couple. Especially Imogen. She was a nurse then a worker in a whore house then a countess. Cole was a prisoner of war who was rescued by The Highlander (book 3.) It was about a serial killer who killed those who looked like Imogen. You can guess who the led up to.

There was explicit sex, which I skipped past since I was more interested in the story than the sex. And the F-bomb was used 21 times.

As to the narration: Derek Perkins is not all that good when it comes to a woman’s voice but he is terrific with the men having their own distinct voice.

Awesome!!!

Imogen is a nurse by day but works in disguise at night to pay off her fathers debt. When her boss sells her virginity to help pay her fathers debt she is devastated. But when she sees who it is she is shy but he is gentle. Cole the Duke of Talmage pays 20 guineas for Genie(Imogen) not realizing she was a serving maid and not a whore. Cole them leaves on a mission and disappears.

A year later he is rescued and brought to the hospital when Imogen is a nurse. She is asked to look over him. When she realizes he does not have typhoid but septicemia she is fired after he survives. Not knowing what to do she is attacked at her other work and runs away thinking she killed someone.

When she entered a marriage of convenience she did to save her family. Know a wealthy widow she will do anything to help others that were in her predicament. A wonderful story with a great narrator in Derek Perkins.
