He would sacrifice everything to protect his clan. But will he risk his heart?

Maddox Ross, the young laird of Clan Ross and newly named Duke of Tarbert, carries the fate of his people on his shoulders. As the Hogmanay celebrations near, his plans for peace are upended by the arrival of an unwelcome guest—Laird Lamont, a sworn enemy, bringing with him a dangerous proposal.

Lamont offers an impossible choice: allow his own family to be slaughtered, or strike an alliance through marriage. Refusing would mean bloodshed. Accepting means binding himself to the daughter of the man he loathes.

Used as a bargaining chip in her father’s desperate bid for power, Ealasaid Lamont has no illusions about her worth. Her dowry is war, and her future—uncertain. When her last hope lies in the hands of Laird Ross, she dares to ask for his protection through marriage. But when he rejects her, humiliation threatens to crush her completely.

Yet fate is not done with them.

Amid the rising tension of old rivalries and new desires, Maddox and Ealasaid must decide: will they cling to duty, or fight for a love that could change everything?

I'm glad I didn't need to use it credit for this book. I highly recommend the rest of this series. it's very good. this novella is okay. honestly you don't even need to read it if you don't want to. you're not missing out on any things. this is a story before the Ross siblings are born but like I said it's unnecessary you can skip it.

Okay.

Virtual voice kills the enjoyment of the story. Little to no emotion and all characters are delivered in the same tone, men, women and children. No distinction.
