At twenty-five, Lady Augusta Blackwood is firmly on the shelf, and perfectly content to stay there. With a razor-sharp tongue and a mind far too bold for polite society, she has little interest in marriage, and even less in the dull men who seek it. But everything changes with a single, scandalous proposition from the Duke of Harrington, London’s most infamous rake.

Alexander Harrington is a man of many conquests and few regrets, yet beneath his wicked charm lies a soul wearied by empty liaisons and haunted by secrets. When he crosses paths with the unconventional Lady Augusta, he’s captivated not just by her beauty, but by her defiance, and her quiet loneliness.

What begins as a daring arrangement soon erupts into a battle of wills, a tempest of desire, and a slow-burning intimacy neither of them expected. Behind the polished façades and strict etiquette of the ton, Augusta and Alexander risk ruin for moments stolen in shadows, for whispered truths and desperate touches.

But in a world where appearances are everything, can love survive when passion dares to become something more?

A short "steamy" romance. I love the quick and dirty romances just as much as I like the long drawn-out romances.

Great Short Story

I liked that the heroine knew her own mind. The hero was appealing, even if he didn’t know his own mind. It all worked out in the end, of course!

Good for a short story

Good quick listen, lots of passion and dialogue, likable characters and real life relationships. Good story.
But the virtual voice did not change for different characters, no male voice tone or inflection at all. Human actors bring the story to life in ways the virtual reading did not.

Passion leads to love

This is not a romance novel. A Duke asked a virgin debutant to be his unpaid whore and of course she agrees. He took her virginity in broad daylight at his townhouse in the parlor on a chase lounge. Not my type of romance novel.

No Romance

The audio is without intonation or with irregular intonation. The story is okay, nothing great.

The performance is awful
