Keeping watch over the Easter Sepulchre, where the Host and crucifix are stored between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, is considered a privilege. So it is shocking when it is discovered that Odo, the priest’s clerk, has abandoned his post. But as the hours pass and Odo is not found, Hugh de Singleton is called upon.

It is Hugh that finds the dried blood before the altar, and fear grows for the missing man … Will Hugh be called upon to investigate another murder, or will the man be found hale and hearty? But if so, where has the blood come from?

This volume did not disappoint! It's wonderful getting lost in the past with familiar characters. I enjoy the details about daily life, such as the food, buildings, and people. Arthur is my favorite character, followed by Kate! Then Sir Hugh, bless his heart.

Another great addition to this series. Some new and old characters appear and of course murder and deception. Great narration as usual.

I think the series recording stopped at 12 due to the pandemic. I'm so glad to get to hear these next books. this narrator is good but I love Stephen Crossley

This entertaining installment of the series is another winner! Although a shorter listen than some of Starr’s other works, which I hope will not become a trend for the author, the story is very engaging, well paced, with a satisfying ending.

Three Cheers for Hugh de Singleton!
