Twenty-two years in the FBI, 16 of them as a member of the Bureau's Behavioral Science Unit. Thousands of homicides, rapes, suicides, and other gruesome crimes. Roy Hazelwood, like many investigators, has seen it all. But unlike most, he's gone further into the dark and twisted psyches of serial killers and sadistic sexual offenders and has emerged as one of the world's foremost experts on the sexual criminal.

Now, acclaimed true-crime writer Stephen G. Michaud takes you into the heart of Hazelwood's work through dozens of startling cases, including those of the Lonely Heart Killer, the "Ken and Barbie" killings, and the Atlanta Child Murders. Here Michaud and Hazelwood go beyond the lurid details, to a deeper understanding of the depraved minds behind the grisly crimes, in a stark, startling, and fascinating work you will not soon forget.

Contains mature themes.

Some of the language in this book can be confusing if you aren't familiar with the world of FBI profiling. I suggest starting off with some of John E Douglass works like, "Obsession" and then listening to this. But if you love anything with true crime or psychology you are going to love this read! this is one I could get to the end and just start all over. It"s that interesting!

Got my housework done for several days and learned a lot. This is my second book with this particular narrator, and I don’t believe I was crazy about him but once you finish the first book and you go to the second book it’s almost like you expect him to be talking to you about this subject.
All in all really enjoyed this one.

Very Interesting!

I couldn’t stop listening, lost a little sleep but it was worth it. Best book on serial killers I have read in a while. The reader was good and the books information was interesting.

I read a lot of true crime. This highly detailed text covers some cases that are new to me, and adds info to others most of us are familiar with. The profiling and capture of these ghouls fascinates me, but the extra horrible details of their perverse cruelty is really more sickening than even I expected it to be. I now know more about auto erotic asphyxiation and sexual sadism than I ever wanted to. Hats off to Roy Hazelwood and his ilk. I don’t know how one lives with this stuff in the brain pan.

Whoa. That’s a lot.
