This is the story of a senior couple whose front porch is occupied by an unfamiliar cat. Out of compassion, the couple provides the cat with water and food, but keeps him outside. Before long they allow the cat in.

The story is told from the point of view of a cat who is imagined to have a wry sense of humor. It is a story that has been enjoyed by adults as well as by children as young as four or five years old.
