A lost fox. A gorgeous ghost. And an unlikely partnership to stop a murderer.

Since his mother's murder, Sage McKinley doesn’t live, he exists. His weak magic has made him an outcast, shadowing his life with self-doubt. All that changes when the spirit of a gunslinger appears in his bookstore with a message that will flip Sage’s world upside down. According to the mesmerizing apparition, a powerful magic lies within Sage...if he can find a way to tap into it.

But dastardly threats accompany this untapped power. Bodies are piling high as a killer hunts for the secrets of the mage that now course through Sage’s veins. Can Sage find the confidence to embrace all he’s capable of? Or will the next life snuffed out be his own?

I picked this up because Joel Leslie narrated it, and as usual I wasn't disappointed. I've not read Sam Burns before, but the story was entertaining (although the ending felt a bit rushed), the characters likeable and I was happily lost in Sage and Flukes story for a few hours - I look forward to their next adventure.

entertaining

What a great story! I loved the characters, the plot, the pacing, the romance and the level of low but present angst was perfection.

Joel Leslie did his usual amazing performance and brought every character to incredibly individualistic life.

I highly recommend this book!!!

Perfectly Titled Story because it’s Fantastic!

What an awesome story. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I loved listening to Joel Leslie bringing Sam Burns’ story to life.
I enjoyed the world building. Mages, magic, arcane,
ghosts, familiars and a whole lot of things to discover.
With how the story ended, I’m immediately jumping on to the next one, hopefully the new narrator won’t jar me too much.

Fantastic, indeed!

This was an interesting urban fantasy with a dash of romance, nicely developed characters, and a well performed narration.

The main character, Sage, is dealing with quite a bit of tragedy, and the beginning of the story is almost oppressive. The quick addition of a an adorable fox keeps the story from meandering down a darker path, and lightens the mood.

The story wraps up nicely, but this is obviously just the beginning. I look forward to reading more about Sage and his magical abilities.

Good story. Good narration.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The pace and characters were great! The narrator kind of made the love interest sound like Johnny Bravo/Elvis but it surprisingly wasn’t as distracting as I first thought. Would recommend!

I REALLY liked it
