On July 19, 1924, Eric Liddell was on top of the world.

He was the most famous Briton at the time, having just won the gold in the Olympic 400-meter race. The story of that race - and the one he didn't run - was told in the popular movie classic Chariots of Fire.

But what most of us don't know is what became of Eric Liddell in the years after the credits rolled.

As the storm clouds of World War II rolled in, Eric Liddell had already made decisions in his life that gave him the resilience to stand tall while others fell into despair. His strength of character led him to choose an uncertain future in China during World War II to continue helping the Chinese. He lived purposefully, even as his world crumbled and he experienced the horror and deprivations of a Japanese internment camp.

Eric's story is a story of hope in the face of uncertainty, resilience in the face of unspeakable odds, and an inspiring vision of what life means, even when the final hour comes.

The life of Eric Liddell is truly the most inspiring. For any Christian, to read about an athlete so decorated and revered, who put his faith in Christ over everything in his life is something that cannot be discussed enough. There is no athlete in recent memory like Eric Liddell, his sacrifice as a missionary, and his valiant, sacrificial death. He completed his race. This book lays out his story beautifully. It's exceptional in every way.

Lloyd James's narration is exceptionally good. He does a masterful job with the material. It's lyrical. All in all, this is a most important work for any listener.

I enjoyed learning the full and inspirational story behind the man I first came to know as a child through the film, Chariots of Fire. Seeing his faithfulness to Christ and the impact he had in others all the way to the end of his life was a blessing.

Interesting story behind the iconic name.

what is so memorable about Eric H. Liddell is not his remarkable athletic accomplishments, his sclphsrly studies, or faithfulness during war time incarceration, but the sweet, loyal living out of the daily fellowship with the Lord in his life. starting the day with Scripture and prayer was what. are hisife what it became and enabled hi. to bring or to God! not without faults, among which was the lack of saying "No" when asked to do more, being among them, but there is no doubt that great things were accomplished in very difficult circumstances.

Jesus shone through Eric's life
