Having witnessed the terrible massacre of Imperial forces on Isstvan III, Death Guard Captain Garro seizes a ship and sets a course for Terra to warn the Emperor of Horus' treachery.

But when the fleeing Eisenstein is damaged by enemy fire, it becomes stranded in the warp - the realm of the Dark Powers. Can Garro and his men survive the depredations of Chaos and get his warning to the Emperor before Horus' plans reach fruition?

The weakest story and narator thus far into the series. Still both are very enjoyable.

Good Liste

Exceptional story. Must read for anyone interested in the Death Guard. James Swallow's descriptions are impeccable. Keeble's reading is both engaging and hypnotic.

I loved it! Everything except the voice of the saint was awesome, she sounded like a dying old toothless man :P

Awesome!

I truly enjoyed the depth and detail of each character in this as well as the new layers to an already amazing series.

Amazing Story and deep character development.

Another solid tale from the Horus Heresy. The story isn't as epic feeling as the first three, but is still a lager than life adventure. The first half of the book is basically a retelling of book 3 but from a very different view, and it helps tell the aftermath of the betrayal on Istvaan III. Although this book isn't as "epic" feeling, it is the most exciting volume so far! We see the horrors of the warp in a way we haven't yet in Horus Heresy. It's a solid story and good follow up to the trilogy that came before. Beyond recommended.

Another epic tale of The Grim Darkness
