Jack Taylor is back at it again! Hired to bring order to Diyu (a city on Mars) is met with treachery, gorillas with guns and a taste of humanity’s worst traits, river lice, pirates, a damsel in distress, and lots of evil entities. Blinded by the parasite-eating creatures lodged in the heads of the archeologists there, they have gone insane and deadly. Capturing the local residents and torturing them to do their bidding. Jack has to figure it all out and put a stop to it. He has no expertise in this area as the evils on earth were much easier and familiar. Now he’s on uncharted ground!

The author, Gayne C. Young delivers another fast-paced, adventure with interesting characters, both returning and new. Creative in his world-building, Young has a knack for making his listener want to throw up! River lice for dinner????? Oh, yuck! Action-packed, the listener can’t put the book down. The plot and world development were well executed. The details were splendid! Character development was also solid. I’m not sure how much more growth a character like Jack has given this series is more about adventure and action. Loved Zolo!

The narrator, Kevin Perkins delivers another fine performance. His tone and delivery speed enhance this book. He spoke clearly and concisely. He brought Jack, Zolo, and others to life through his talented voice skills. His unique voice for each character is mesmerizing and helps to keep the characters straight. I enjoy listening to Perkins, his voice is pleasant to hear.

Overall, this is a good and interesting series with some light fun moments, and comes highly recommended.
