Jobe wants to be a bard like his father Jaquan. But his father abandoned him after a fight.

Now Jobe’s living with his mother Jona, and working as a clown at a seaside amusement park. A singer quits, and Jobe wants to audition.

But his boss Dashiel hires the infamous bard Paracleus instead, which infuriates Jobe. Jobe tries to dissuade Paracleus from performing.

But Jobe finds himself seduced by Paracleus.

Paracleus normally would travel to hide the fact he’s a kitsune Vulpine, a shape-shifting fox with nine tails who can take on human form.

He’s afraid what’ll happen to him if he’s discovered. If Dashiel finds out, he might become a sideshow act.

Or worse, he could be captured by villains and monsters that work for the evil Doomba and sent to the Wastelands. But he can’t pass up the opportunity, even if he has to compete with magical performers.

Paracleus doesn’t know any romantic ballads, but Dashiel insists he should sing a love song. Luckily, Jobe has some talent and range when his father trained him. All Paracleus has to do is convince Jobe to help him.

Author's Note: The Fox Bard is the first book in the Jobe & Paracleus series, an M/M fantasy adventure. Edited for better narrative flow.
