Owen Ripley and his crew of Civil War veterans are unwilling to return to their civilian lives. Instead they elect to make their fortunes fighting the lawless men plaguing the Old West as it extends the frontier. This action-packed debut series follows Ripley's crew as they are contracted by the Union Pacific Railroad to protect their passengers on the way to the South Dakota gold strike. The roughness of his men coupled with the unfamiliar nature of the case keeps Ripley with his hands full, but it's nothing he can't handle. The mission leads them to a string of train robberies, where the Regulators relentlessly pursue the criminals and bring justice to the Texas Panhandle.

The boomtowns, bordellos, and raucous saloons set the scene. Run ins with lazy sheriffs, resentful Texas Rangers, and bounty hunters, and sharpies characterize The Furnace of Violence as a classic western hit. Follow Ripley and the Regulators as they write the law where there isn’t any!
