Life in middle school can be rough, but it’s even worse if your family moves to a different continent where I don’t know the language, the culture, and how I’ll ever fit in with the other kids. Navigating a new town is one thing but trying to learn the lay of the land in a new school is another. First, there are the obvious barriers. Then there are the bullies.

I miss living in America. I miss my friends. And now our trip home for a visit is cancelled. If I don’t find a distraction soon, I don’t know what I’ll do.

When I hear about a fundraiser competition that promises an all-expense paid trip to Florida, I jump at the chance to compete, and if all goes well, say goodbye to Poland temporarily. All I have to do is convince my team to help me win and donate to an animal shelter. The plan goes well… until my adopted dog Ramses goes missing.

If I don’t find Ramses, not only will I have a ZERO chance of winning the competition, but I’ll lose my only real friend here FOREVER.
