“SOS Titanic to all ships. Sinking head down 41.46 N 50.14 W. Come as soon as possible.”

North Atlantic Ocean, 1912. Kate Royston is a witness to history as the RMS Carpathia responds to the Titanic’s desperate SOS. Kate plans to escape personal tragedy by fleeing to Europe, but everything changes when the Carpathia races to save the Titanic’s survivors.

Forced to return to New York, Kate abandons her hope of escape and becomes embroiled as a vital witness in the high-profile Senate investigation of the disaster.

Fueled by public rage and political infighting, the investigation becomes a witch hunt. Although Kate knows the truth she’s terrified that pitting her eyewitness account against ruthless, powerful men will leave her ruined. As she struggles to make a decision, her heart leads her to two men—a powerful lawman and a handsome young radio operator.

Can Kate find happiness in the midst of tragedy?

Meticulously researched and using actual witness testimony, The Girl on the Carpathia begins where most Titanic stories end and answers the questions “What happened next?” and "Who was to blame?"

The Girl on the Carpathia is a gripping stand-alone historical novel inspired by real events. If you like passionate characters, surprising revelations, and endearing romances, then you’ll love Eileen Enwright Hodgetts' seamless blend of fact and fiction.

the narrator sounded as if they were reading the story (with different voices), but not as if it was a performance. poor cadence, tiresome after a while. I liked the story enough to finish, but that diminished how much I liked the book.

poor reading, good story

Insight into the activities that happened after the Titanic sank, fictional characters blended with real people, the intrigue of the very new Marconi machine & operators, the division of 1st 2nd & 3rd class passengers, the sensationalism of the newspapers reporters, "women & children first" on the lifeboats and the mindset of "cowardice" towards the men that did manage to get on a lifeboat. The US Senate Inquiry and the resulting US laws passed were fascinating and important measures taken to prevent future tragedies of inadequate number of lifeboats, the establishment of the Ice Patrol amongst US Coast Guard and other nations, etc
Splendid research resulting in a eye opening, delightful read with engrossing characters. At the end of the book, there is a list of the fictional characters plus a section of real people mentioned in the book with a brief summary about them. The Audible version was delightful!

I don’t like to criticize professionals, but the narration sounded almost computer generated. It detracted from the story. I hope the narrator has taken more training.

Good story; poor narration

Mechanical sounding narration was very annoying.

Story not bad but somewhat disjointed at times. I wanted to enjoy it but had to listen in short segments.

Poor narration spoiled a good story

I really loved listening to this. The characters are well done. The voices are believable as well. This mixes fiction with real events. The history is well researched.

Excellent!
