Dottie and Mary forged a friendship over a bag of penny sweets when they were eight years old. They've shared everything together since then. Now, at seventeen, they're both shopgirls working at Woolworths.

As they go out in the world in pursuit of love and happiness and life becomes more complicated, the simplicity of their childhood dissolves. The heady excitement of first love will consume them both, but the pain of unintentional betrayal will test their friendship.

The story was engaging as the characters emerged. Loved the narration, but was a little hard to understand in places. I definitely want to get the series now

A story of true friendship that hits close to home. I totally enjoyed the entire story. Mary and Dottie are an amazing set of friends that even thru the hardships and nightmares that life brings to them, they stand the test of time and are there together all the way thru the end.

This story was riveting. Listened all the way through. Finished the last hour in the morning. Man! This book took me through so many emotions. Not a lot of authors can do that. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book. I'll
Be listening to the rest. But I don't know how they will meet this one. I hope if you choose this book, you'll enjoy it all like I did. Good reading.

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a book so much as ‘The Girls from See Saw Lane: Book 1’ I was raised in Hastings..my mom lived during WWII in Hastings which is not far from Brighton where my Uncle still lives. That was during the ‘60’s also, but I wasn’t as old as the girls..just a mere child. The thing I’m trying to say is I could relate so much to the narrator and the words Sandy Taylor wrote. I laughed so much and at the end cried like a little girl. What a beautiful book...

Highly recommended 5⭐️plus..take a moment to listen and read the British ways of doing crazy things in the 60’s and a tragedy that befalls upon a family...

Funny, laugh out loud, crying..
