Critic reviews

"As an Earth man who inexplicably fond himself transported to Mars, John Carter became the archetypical fantasy-adventure protagonist. With duty and honor as his basic motivating principles, he bravely plunged headlong into one exciting adventure after another....Sword fights and princess-saving were his specialities." (Nick Evangelista, The Encyclopedia of the Sword)

I have enjoyably listened to a number of books from Audible and without a doubt, this is the most monotone narration that I have ever heard. DON'T get this book unless it is from another narrator.

worst narrator ever

Having listen to many novices voice act over the past several years, this reading was ranked average among them.

It took him a good 5-10min to get into the "groove" of reading, and the audio is of a lower quality at the beginning of each "start" of a new segment. This would've been avoided if he had spent a few min prior to recording doing a practice read. Sometimes I could've sworn that a new guy would come in sometimes....

and I think at one time I could hear someone murmuring in the other room?

Bland reading.

Not sure I like the voice of the reader.
Thankfuly the story is great.
Can stand alone but best to start with the 1st audio.

Unexpected trials

After listening to 15 minutes of this book, I found I could not listen anymore. The reading was just too awkward, lots of random pauses and breaks and the reader did not seem comfortable with the Martian names.
