The Netherlands had a great century in the 1600s, until it all ended about three-fourths of the way along. Trading was all around; business was good. The Eighty Years' War, which ended in 1648, controls the first area. In the Dutch Republic, the Golden era lasted until the end of the century, when pricey fights like the Franco-Dutch War and the War of the Spanish Succession stimulated financial depression.
