This dark tale of vigilante justice grips you from beginning to end as you question the difference between right and wrong in a world filled with extremes that teeter on the balance of good and evil.

The Good Samaritan has been a thorn in Detective John Corbin’s side for years as he tries to hunt down the rogue killer with what few leads he has. As the bodies pile up each one is proven guilty of some profound evil thanks to the evidence provided by the mysterious avenger.

No criminal in the city is safe as The Good Samaritan chooses his next victim who will learn, through unimaginable amounts of pain, what it’s like to be the one begging for mercy.

The Good Samaritan by E.S. Grant is not the type of book I normally pick up but I’m really glad I did. I discovered it at a gorgeous new bookstore in St. Petersburg, Florida, where the author happened to be signing. I was excited to try something different, especially with a signed copy in hand. Since I drive an hour each way to work, I also grabbed the audiobook so I could dive in right away.

Overall, the story kept my interest and turned out to be a great book that I would recommend to friends. The only thing I personally struggled with was the narrator. Art Brown is clearly talented, but for this particular story, his tone just didn’t match what I imagined for the characters and mood. That’s purely personal preference.

E.S. Grant — when we spoke, you asked for my thoughts on turning this into a series, and my answer is 100% yes. In my opinion, I’d love to hear the story specifically from The Good Samaritan’s perspective next time. Start with his childhood, move into what was going through his mind at the beginning of this book, then pick up after the ending (no spoilers!). I’d love to get to know him on a deeper, more intimate level.

I’m not a professional reviewer, but this was my honest take. I’m really glad I gave this book a chance, and I’d definitely read more from this author.
