"If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a quitter," Russell Baker's mother always said. Baker certainly never quit - in fact, this fantastic journalist's Pulitzer Prize-winning column appears twice a week in The New York Times. This book, his second autobiographical volume, describes the rewarding stages of his career and his encounters with John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Eugene McCarthy, and other major figures. All the wit, perceptiveness, and poignant humor that has graced his column for many years comes through in this engaging memoir.©1989 by Russell Baker (P)1989 by Dove Books on Tape, Inc. Critic reviews

"I am going to think of Russ Baker's new book simply as 'Russell Baker Continued,' and I never want it to stop." (Harrison E. Salisbury)

I was young and not really paying much attention when so much of what is shared in this book was happening. Russell Bakers life was fascinating, but his mother was maddening and amazing. I’m not sure we would have had Russell Baker as he turned out to be without her.

Enjoyed it. Audio not totally clear, poor quality. Narration & performance fine. Good story. Worthwhile listening.

I read this book many years ago and picked up my hardcover copy off the bookshelf. I was pleasantly surprised to find it on Audible. Despite my disappointment once I realized the audio was abridged, I still found the story quite enjoyable.

Abridged, but tells the story
