Dona Pearson has spent a lifetime escaping one controlling man after another—first a jealous boyfriend, then an unfaithful husband, and finally a lover whose affection smothered her. At last, she believes she’s found peace in her quiet Florida apartment and the freedom to live on her own terms. But freedom lasts only until the morning she vanishes without a trace. Trapped in a windowless green room with no sense of time, Dona endures drugged meals, psychological manipulation, and the chilling voice of a captor she cannot see. With each question he forces her to answer, she is pushed deeper into the shadows of her past—her failed marriage, her dangerous love affair, her relentless fear of abandonment. In the darkness, old memories become weapons, and every mistake she’s ever made suddenly feels like a motive. Cozy Mystery Psychological Suspense Thriller & Suspense Disappearance

To me it seemed like a delusional fantasy and not in a good way. It was free: so it might have been worth the listen to get a differing perspective... but in the end some perspectives are just better being left alone. No one should have their will and freedom taken. So: It's hard to take umbridge with the story on that side... I guess i'm just saying I didn't like Donna and I was a bit triggered since she reminded me of past relationships where I was always the villian and I could never measure up. All I have to say is run David run and perhaps seek some counselling about your codependence. Find a person who doesn't give mixed signals and is going to take your feelings in to account. Don't let a person persecute you for caring about them. Yeah, I was triggered. I feel if the writing was good it would have brought me along and made me feel for the protagonist. Instead, it seemed like propaganda villainizing all past relationships and showing a lack of self realization. If you are going to be in a prison without bars then don't drag other people in.

It was free. My perspective is male..
