The writing is childlike, first this, then this, I did #1, #2, #3, #4 and then #5. We don't need a complete detail like that. Things should flow. You need a better editor, or you need to listen to what your editor tells you, Clay Wise.

Jess Trepanier has the most jolting unpleasant cadence when she talks. Pausing when there is no reason to pause, doing run-on sentences. She sounds like she's reading, not like the other narrators, but actually sitting there, reading a story to a child. No natural inflection, no natural emotions.

Is this really how you think things should sound?

Having recently binged a few Clay Wise EMP reads, I decided I’m a fan and will read anything he’s written. Listening to this book though prompted me to amend that statement. While this wasn’t bad by any means, it just wasn’t very exciting either. It was okay, but a bit slow-paced for me.

If it’s meant to be satire, then well done, as it was mildly funny at times. If I’m meant to take this seriously, then: goal not met. I’ve read other ghost-hunter novels and not had this issue, so it’s not the subject matter so much as the execution.

Overall: “it’s okay” (which = 2 stars on Audible, 3 everywhere else).
