Dana didn’t heed the warning about not using the house on the island at Christmas time. She went ahead and did it anyway. But some doors are better left unopened.

When Dana and Sterling decide to escape London’s dreary confines, and spend Christmas at the families island house, they defied a Christmas tradition. No one should spend Christmas day at the cove.

When the couple arrive they discover a ghostly Christmas tree, its candles burned to stubs, and a dust-covered copy of A Christmas Carol, relics of a bygone era. But their fascination turns to horror when the veil between the living and the dead begins to part and Dana’s world becomes fraught with fear.

When the spectral figure sets off a series of nightmarish events she tries to rationlise, afterall, TV’s have been known to be finnicky before. But how can a fire ignite with no human hand? And is she imagining a malevolent female that seems to vanish into thin air.

Trapped in a relentless game of supernatural cat and mouse, Sterling's skepticism fuels the growing divide between them, and Dana's world unravels as the ghost's sinister presence intensifies, her whispers of vengeance echoing through the storm-lashed island.

As the haunting escalates it is clear that as a vicious spectre is, determined to have them as her very own.
Can Dana and Sterling find a way out of this nightmarish Christmas and survive the island's dark secret? Or will they become its next victims, forever ensnared in its haunting legacy?

Got this one with the Kindle edition for pretty cheap. Not a big fan of generated voices, but this the best one I've heard.
The story was okay. I didn't care much for the main characters, but the premise was interesting and I liked the ending. I would be aware of triggers if you are a parent.

A quick gothic holiday listen

The AI generated voice was difficult to listen to. It made the story very choppy. The plot had possibilities, not developed.

AI generated stories should be avoided.

I honestly couldn’t get past the first chapter.
While the AI voice was better than I expected, it still was not a good choice to narrate. It was too choppy, but more than that, there was no life - missing the emotions needed for narration.

If I am looking for background noise to fill airspace while I’m doing something else, I may give this another try.
I gave the story higher marks as it seems it will be a decent storyline - it just needs someone to narrate who can feel the emotion of the book and it’s characters.

AI voice too rote

I didn’t like the virtual voice. It didn’t have the inflection and character changes. Real human would have.

The reader and not in a good way

I survived 2 hours of virtual voice with no intonation, flat, monotoned, and with no differentiation between characters. You never knew who was saying what, it was like one 2 hour run-on sentence. Maybe with a better narrator, the story itself would have been okay but this is one story I will not listen to a second time.

I Hate Virtual Voice
