Book 9 doesn’t disappoint.

Usually by the end of the first 3 books in a series, the author struggles to make the subsequent books interesting. That has not been the case in this series, despite the cheesy book titles.

We met William MacLean in previous books in the series and he’s everything one would want in a warrior.

I wasn’t thrilled with the fae aspect of this book but it added a little humour and wasn’t overly dramatic, and while a good bit of the plot deals with the ‘gift’ supposedly given, the fae aren’t really what the story is centred on.

Book 10 (the one after all this one) doesn’t seem to follow the script as it were. This series seems like an Elite Highander Military Squad engaged in secret missions filled with political intrigue.

We should have been given the stories of Thomas Fraser and Grant Macaulay and Bram’s story would have been a good one to have as well, before Book 10 in this series.

I can’t say I’m pleased that their stories haven’t been written as it leaves huge gaps in the overall storyline of the series. Especially where Thomas Fraser and Grant Macaulay are concerned. I don’t like series where I am left with too many questions and cliffhangers about such characters.

As always, the audiobook companion by Timothy Campbell is excellent and I highly recommend it!

Good finish. Only thing that would have been better is to round up ALL the characters for one last gathering.

Captivating

I listened to this book on audible on the way to and from work and was so captivated by the book and characters that I would be disappointed when I arrived at my destination, because that meant I had to wait to hear what was next. The characters were wonderful and well developed and the atoeyline was amazing.
