An ex-Army ranger needing a change, a local reporter writing a story on the academy, and a natural disaster that they both get trapped in.

Marco Fernandez just finished up his last deployment with the Army. When his best friend offers him a job, he jumps at the opportunity to leave the stress of military life behind him and focus on training the next generation. That’s why he’s irritated when a smart and spunky reporter comes charging into his life, wanting to know way more about his past then he’s prepared to share.

Susan Chandler knows that her feature on the elite search and rescue academy could be just her ticket to the big leagues. It doesn’t matter that she has to put her life on the line following them from disaster to disaster if it means she can get the scoop of her career. What she isn’t prepared for, is how attracted she is to the man she’s been assigned to follow.

Will Susan be able to break through Marco’s defenses? Will Marco make room in his heart for love? And will they find a way to survive long enough to figure out what a great team they make?

Although Marco just wanted to do his job, Susan made that impossible for him. He constantly thought about her, not realizing that she was constantly thinking about him. He was so reserved. Susan’s job required her to meet and talk to people, usually an easy job. Marco was another thing. She tried to get him to talk, finally getting him to open up. She was caring and willing to listen. Once he was able to talk, their relationship changed, and they were able to find that they really cared about each other. Fortunately, she had the personality he needed in his life. It was enchanting that a reticent man found the woman he loved and needed.
