Two feuding families, two love stories - and a lot of delicious Italian food.

Pieta Martinelli's sister is getting married. Since she is a bridal designer it falls to her to make the wedding gown. But Pieta is distracted by a series of unanswered questions. Why is her father feuding with another Italian in the neighbourhood? Why is her mother so faded and sad? And could the man she's always held a torch for really be getting married to someone else?

As Pieta stitches and beads her sister's wedding gown she uncovers the secrets that have made her family what it is and that stand between her and happiness.

The Italian Wedding is a feast of food and love. It's about discovering who your parents really are. And who you really want to be.

I enjoyed this book tremendously.

I felt as if I were on a little tour of Italy and enjoying some of the country’s wonderful food along the way.

I loved all the members of the Martinelli family, even though the father, Bepe, could be a little overbearing at times.

I enjoyed the way the recipes were presented in this book. In other books about Italy by Ms. Pelligrino, I felt the family/characters were not as important as the food and I found the constant focus on food was a little too much after a while, but I didn’t feel that way about this book at all. The focus in this book was on the family and their interactions and didn’t seem like an afterthought.

The descriptions of Italy — buenisimo!

As always, the narrator, Jane McDowell was PERFECT.

I recommend this book — if you haven’t read anything by Ms. Pelligrino, make this book your first one.😊

These words perfectly illustrate what we imagine life in Italy would be. Cannot wait to get back and experience places I’ve not yet seen. Always enjoy going to Italy and listening to this story makes me feel like I’m already there.

A taste of Italy in words!
