Susan and George have just returned from their 10,000-mile last-hurrah and 40th-anniversary road trip.

During their travels, Susan has shed the strong urge to run away from the care-giving role she was given when George was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

The readers of her travel blog encouraged her to keep writing when she got home. "Your journey is not over," they told her.

So Susan kept writing the friendly, open posts that seemed more like a letter from a friend than a computer post. She recorded life moments honestly and openly. The readers would open their mailbox periodically throughout the day, anxious to dive into another update that would have them laughing, or crying, or just shaking their heads.

Now you, too, can take the journey with Susan and George. Learn how they found fun, joy, and fellowship despite living with progressive dementia symptoms.

Find yourself entertained and pulled into their story as you learn:

  • Caregivers Stuff Feelings
  • The Art of Dealing with Bullies
  • Levels and Stages of Dementia
  • Traveling with Dementia
  • Respite Care Rescue
  • Dementia Care Training
  • Instructing Respite Caregivers
  • Bicycle Friends are the Best
  • Alzheimer’s is Crappy
  • Sleep, the Game Changer

And much more...

The book is written in language I understand. It’s not an easy road but the author’s ability to live with and care for her spouse, from poop to dancing, shows her patience and love. Her ability to carry on and move past daily frustrations teaches us that it will be okay if we have set our expectations of the Alzeheimer patient at a low bar - understanding that they are not capable of more.

I found this a hopeful and honest account of a difficult journey. So many will go on a similar trip with a loved one, or have already been through this. Susan helps you laugh and cry at the normal human responses of caregivers, those with Alzheimer's disease and the world around us. I hope this book inspires others to hang in there while taking care of others and yourself!

Listening to both books while walking was a real joy. Both narrators did an excellent job making you feel like you really were “Trippin with George.” Both books give an in depth view of living with a beloved spouse who has Alzheimer’s. Susan Straley writes with compassion, enthusiasm, joy and sorrow. It is a must read or must listen for all care givers, respite workers, and anyone that enjoys a good journey that has it’s ups and downs.

The story is good, though it reads like a blog.Candace Tuttle narrates nicely, but is rather bland.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
