With only each other to rely on and the questionable bond of trust between them forging an unlikely team; they are forced to enter once more into the world of darkness they are desperately attempting to escape from. Fighting the threats they know and the ones lurking in the shadows, each of them is forced to reconcile who they are and what they will need to become in order to survive.

Great suspense read

excellent story line, realistic and lots of action without dropping into excessive gore. the characters were well developed and engaging. the narrator did an exceptional job and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment

Great foundation to build on

Great starting book for a series with enough foundation without being too slow. Looking forward to the next book!

Good characters and real firearm details.

I truly cared about the characters. I hated the bad guys. I was concerned about the well being of the good guy.

Gritty and engrossing

Mackay Barr put together a solid tale of mystery and violence, with a few surprising moments of deep intimacy. I enjoyed it, and he got me hooked on the preview for the second in the series. Take my money!

Of note, I’ve read at least one review from a reader who was put off by how graphic the violence is. As a fan of true crime podcasts, I didn’t find it too intense, at all. Not a brag, just some context.
