There was no money, the family was scattered, and Lucille, who had mothered them all since she was 16, was going to be married. So the house must be sold; Lucille knew that was the only sensible things to do, but the family had other ideas.

Home they came by whatever way they could, penniless and bedraggled but with certain newfound friends who were to help them to upset Lucille's plans - all her plans for a calm, settled, and sensible life.

I love this Elizabeth Cadel series and the narrator did a fabulous job. There is an echo - as noted by others - but I stopped noticing it after a while. It was lovely company in the car while driving to and from work.

Really enjoyed it

The Lark Shall Sing is the first of the three books about the Wayne family.
This book introduces the six siblings and tells of their return, after a year’s absence, to the family home.
Stevie Zimmerman does a wonderful job with the narration of Elizabeth Cadell’s books. Her voice brings the characters to life.

It’s a miracle! The Waynes of Wood Mount trilogy is now on Audible!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book! This family has so much charm! The love interests were wonderfully written and performed. The struggles and the resolutions are so believable. I can not wait for the next book about the Wayne family to be available on Audible,

What other book might you compare The Lark Shall Sing to and why?

All Elizabeth Cadell books are fun to read- this is one of the best!

What does Stevie Zimmerman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Stevie did a great job of making the many characters so very different from each other. I have read this book many times and I thought her interpretation of Lucille was much richer in character than I had in my mind.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment when Simon is waiting for Long John's appearance through the kitchen window. I cry every time I read this and this performance did not disappoint me- tears came again.

Any additional comments?

How soon will Blue Sky of Spring and Six Impossible Things be available? These are the next books about the Wayne family.

Delightful entertainment!
