Defense attorney Ellie Vance takes the case of Daniel Sterling, accused of murdering Councilman Thorne. She soon discovers Sterling is guilty, but was coerced. The real motive wasn't Sterling's failed project dispute; Thorne had unearthed proof of a massive corporate fraud involving faked geological surveys for the OmniCorp tower, implicating Sterling from years ago and OmniCorp's powerful CEO, Alistair Finchley.

As Ellie investigates, she realizes Thorne was silenced to protect Finchley and OmniCorp. Teaming up with cynical journalist Jack Riley, Ellie finds Thorne’s hidden cache of evidence: the original surveys, payment proofs to Sterling, and a recording of Thorne being threatened by Finchley's fixer.

Now hunted by the ruthless conspirators and betrayed by her mentor within her firm, Ellie goes underground. With Sterling's trial imminent and options dwindling, she plans a desperate move. Returning in disguise, Ellie disrupts the trial, shouting accusations about Finchley and the fraud, while Riley simultaneously publishes the explosive evidence online.

This act triggers a mistrial for Sterling and launches federal investigations into Finchley and OmniCorp. Sterling faces new charges related to the fraud and cooperates. Ellie, after assisting prosecutors, avoids prison but loses her law license. The conspiracy is exposed, but at great personal cost to Ellie, highlighting the dangerous and complex fight for truth against powerful forces.
