The Last Nephilim

The Last Nephilim is a work of historical fiction based upon the first chapters of the book of Genesis and several ancient apocryphal texts. The Bible presents the sons of Noah as monotheistic followers of the God of the universe. So how did their grandchildren end up reigning over polytheistic empires? What happened? This story presents the Nephilim of Genesis chapter six as gifted giants that essentially promoted worship of themselves as deities to post-flood human populations.

The Bible asserts that monotheism was before polytheism, but there is no clear explanation as to why polytheism became so prevalent such a short time after the flood. This audiobook describes one possible explanation as to what may have occurred to have resulted in the explosion of polytheism. Written in a beautiful, scholarly fashion. This is refined, provocative look at events in history.

Fascinating Perspective on History

I enjoyed this speculative look at alternate history. A very different perspective on 'might have beens.' This is a good enough concept that I hope the author will write a sequel.

I am an avid audio book reader. and this ranks at the top of my list.

What did you like best about this story?

Very creative thinking, taking Biblical, historical, mythical themes combine into a great story.

Confusing Narration, Great Story

Would you listen to The Last Nephilim again? Why?

To absorb all the information thrown at the listener within the first 30 minutes. It's a lot, but in a good way with a great story plot.

Would you be willing to try another one of Sam Williamson’s performances?

No. He would often change his voice to denote a different character speaking. But then he would narrate a different character after that with the same voice. Very confusing! Other times he would narrate multiple characters in the same voice with very little pauses in between so the listener has no idea who is talking. He seems to get into a good groove towards the end of the book, and the only thing that kept me listening past the first 30 minutes was the plot.

The plot to the story was great. The narration was terrible. The story ended too abruptly as if the author got tired of continuing the story. There are still many loose ends to the story. I hope he's just setting the stage for a sequel.

Unexpectedly unpredictable.

Breezed through the book. Some of the dialogue and narration made me laugh. Willreadnext book.

Genesis Ch1-10 From A Nephilim's Side of the Scrip

Narration was phenomenal!!

Persus, son of Eldil (fallen angel) Caphtor and his kidnapped spouse Europa is a half human hybrid called a nephilim. He's finally dying and has decided to take his memoirs to a psychiatrist that he has handpicked for the purpose. As the doctor reads the manuscript, he's given explanations of Genesis chapters 1-10 in very specific stories from Persus' long life. Persus has been given a mission by El Shaddai along with individual training and some special gifts. Considering a podcast I once heard along this same line...it's definitely an intensely interesting read. Can't wait to dive into part2..."Caphtorim"
