Miss Olivia Dunne was the darling of society, until a thwarted abduction and elopement scheme by an unscrupulous man left her reputation in tatters. But having moved from paragon to pariah, Olivia realizes that there is no reason for her to continue abiding by society’s mandates. In fact, she decides to embrace her scandalous nature and do the very thing she’s been accused of...take a lover. The man she’s chosen is one she’s secretly loved for years, but she’ll need to employ the aid of an unlikely ally to carry it off.

Lord Burke, Viscount Holland, has loved Olivia for years. He even offered for her once, only to be summarily dismissed by her older brother, his oldest friend. With his pride still stinging, Burke is confronted with the horrible truth that Olivia had never rejected him at all. Her brother never told her of Burke’s interest in her. But if he tells her now, she’ll take it for pity and reject him out of hand. The only way to make her his wife is to first accept her offer to be his mistress. But not everyone wishes to see the couple achieve a happy ending. Some will do whatever it takes to keep them apart. Can true love prevail or will pride and greed conspire to keep them apart forever?

This is the first in the Dunne Family series. The writing is beautiful with well-developed characters. I enjoyed the story but overall it is a bit too steamy for my taste. I prefer a few less descriptions and more emotions. If you like your books steamy I believe you’ll enjoy this one.
The narrators flowed seamlessly throughout the story.

A Bit Too Steamy

Nothing original about the story. Frankly I'm tired of female characters who refuse an offer of marriage from a a man, who is clearly in love with them, thinking that she is making a noble sacrifice for the sake of the prospective groom. That is just an excuse for being afraid! On the one hand she seems quite capable & not at all afraid of fighting against the villain but then is afraid to seize her happiness because she's afraid of what the future might bring?

I liked that there were a man & woman doing the narrating. However it was clear that the woman is not a native British speaker. Her fake British accent was very difficult to listen to...so much so that I couldn't finish the book. A native British speaker couldn't be found to do the job? Hard to believe.

This story blown me way. A appropriate balance between short and fast and taking time to introduce the characters and the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and narrators gave the story the proper accents.

PS I was given this review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Miss Olivia Dunne and Lord Burke, Viscount Holland have loved each other from the time they first met when she was a very young miss, but neither made this known to the other.
I loved the sassiness of Olivia and the level headedness of Burke. This was a great mix and the traits play well together.
I enjoyed the story very much with its romance, a bit of heat and a mystery which needed solving.
Then we have the really entertaining narration by Lillian Yves and Vincent Lee Grayson.
This is a fabulous story and audio and it should not be missed!

I never get tired of listening to Chastity Bowlin’s books. They always have a great story line and end up being so sweet. There was a nod to one of her other books in this one as well which was fun.

The narrating duo is just phenomenal and bring all the characters to life effortlessly.

Lovely, Just lovely
