Great fun to listen.

If you like revenge stories, and I do, well this is a very good one. Lots of laughs to keep the story from being too gloomy, and the revenge tactics are brutal, and very creative. I would not like to be married to the author.

I can say this audio was very well written by Fey Weldon . Gemma Dawson is my absolute favorite narrator........so it goes without saying this book is the very very best. I know it was a major motion film at one time by Roxanne Barr & Danny Davito. I enjoyed both the movie and audio thoroughly.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES. It is a very entertaining dark comedy with some incredibly shocking elements.

What does Gemma Dawson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She captured the darkness of this story with an almost tongue-in-cheek quality.

Her tone was perfect and her character voices were incredibly believable. She made me laugh and cringe at the same time.

If you could take any character from The Life and Loves of a She-Devil out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Bobbo. And I would poison his food! LOL.

This was made into a movie with Meryl Streep. It is a very unique book.
And Gemma Dawson brought the story to life in a whole new way. She is one of my favorite narrators.

Sweet, brutal, and over the top revenge!!

With the sequel novel being released recently in the UK, I decided to listen to this book which I originally read 30 years ago. The Life and Loves of a She-Devil starts out simply enough as a very plain, even ugly, wife Ruth is emotionally abused by her husband Bobbo and his beautiful romance novel author lover Mary Fisher. This novel by British author Fay Weldon which was made into a 1989 movie (She-Devil) staring Meryl Streep and Roseanne Barr is unforgettable. Some reviewers view this book as satire of romance novels, but to me it is a story of sometimes fully and always brutal revenge by a scorned wife. Gemma Dawson's narration is pitch perfect.

I award this audio novel the 5 stars it deserves, but I cannot recommend it except to lovers of very, very dark and brutal (and funny) psychological thrillers. For those who do listen to it I promise you will never forget wronged wife Ruth and her unfaithful husband Bobbo.
