Read by the author.

Walking through Psalm 23 phrase by phrase, therapist and author K.J. Ramsey explores the landscape of our fear, trauma, and faith. When she stepped through her own wilderness of spiritual abuse and religious trauma, K.J. discovered that courage is not the absence of anxiety but the practice of trusting we will be held and loved no matter what.

How can we cultivate courage when fear overshadows our lives? How do we hear the Voice of Love when hate and harm shout loud? This book offers an honest path to finding that there is still a Good Shepherd who is always following you. Braiding contemplative storytelling, theological reflection, and practical neuroscience, Ramsey reveals a route into connection and joy that begins right where you are.

The Lord is My Courage is for the deconstructing and the dreamers, the afraid and the amazed, for those whose fear has not been fully shepherded but who can't seem to stop listening for their Good Shepherd's Voice.

I’ve ordered copies for several people. My family is in the middle of church abuse so this was balm to my soul!
My only caveat is that I think the author takes a few doctrinal leaps that I would not agree with Biblically as well as some sweeping statements regarding social matters that are more complex than she suggests. However, the bulk of everything she describes regarding trauma, courage and resilience is truly healing. Thank you for writing this book KJ Rawlings!

Mostly amazing and truly healing!

Just finished the first read through and cannot wait to listen again. Your words birthed through unimaginable pain were confirmation of many things I’ve been receiving from the Lord within the context of my own experience of marital and spiritual abuse. 6 months divorced and nearly a year since I dimmed the doorway of a church building, I’m learning to embrace deconstruction as I filter out the voices telling me I’m fast tracking my ticket to hell. Thank you for your rawness, for your vulnerability. The masses need this message.

First off, KJ reading her work here is a pure gift. I have the hard copy and the audio, and there is something special about hearing her read it with her natural passion, humor and tenderness throughout. Second, if you’ve walked through any valley of the shadow, This book is a rich comfort. Her stories of spiritual abuse were relatable, and KJ does not tiptoe around this subject. With truth and wisdom, she tells her story of harm and healing in way in which we can all find ourselves.

A balm for the bruised spirit
