A sweeping dual-timeline novel from the bestselling author of The Girl from Bletchley Park.

All she wanted was a child of her own…

1912. As the steamship Carpathia takes the survivors of the Titanic to New York, Lucy desperately searches the decks for her baby, thrust into the arms of another woman as a lifeboat left, and now nowhere to be found. Madeleine is helping her journalist husband to interview the survivors, and when she meets Lucy, she promises she will do anything she can to help her find her lost child.

2022. When archivist Jackie finds a notebook containing the stories of women saved by the Carpathia amongst an auction lot, she learns the story of the missing baby. Desperate to start a family of her own, she feels compelled to dig further. And her search will lead her to a century-old mystery…

Inspired by true events, bestselling author Kathleen McGurl weaves history and fiction together in this captivating, deeply moving story.

I found the narrator to have the perfect voice for this book. However, when recording the audio, I can hear her click the start/stop button quite often in the background. So much that it’s distracting to me. Wish there was a way for clean that up.

It must be me

I love any story of the Titanic. It's interesting to see how different authors find tales to tell about things that happened on the fateful night it sank. Very good story! It's a tragedy that this world will never forget. I've always been drawn to the true story of the Titanic. The story of the great flood in Johnstown, Pennsylvania is another place that's touched my heart. I wish someone would write some tales about that tragedy. More people died there than in the sinking of Titanic. The city has a big museum downtown that is worth seeing. What a horrible true event where the rich and famous played and never cared about what catastrophe would happen one rainy night!

This is a new author for me. Her writing skills are interesting and appealing. The narrator does a great job.
