I give this 3 stars not because it isn't good, but because it's abridged. Connolly is such a wonderful writer that abridging his books ought to be illegal. If you've never read Connolly's work, do yourself a favor and buy the unabridged printed book. You don't want to miss a word.

What made the experience of listening to The Lovers the most enjoyable?

The narrator. Jay O. Sanders is awesome and enthralling in his performance in reading these stories. I feel he is one of the best reading the Charlie Parker books. He differentiates characters and has a lovely voice.
