I love that this doesn't just focus on diet opportunities. Although, don't get me wrong it gets into food and the mechanisms and theory behind it. It makes diet feasible and not extreme. Best of all though, there are other important variables covered that have big impacts on triglycerides and other metabolic markers. It's worth listening for that alone.

I didn't know much about triglycerides before this audiobook. That is ok since this starts you out from the basics and builds from there. This is like having a good sit down discussion with a health nutritionist. It is easy to understand and the narrator keeps you interested right to the end.

Blanton doesn't sugar coat her message. No gimmicks, no eliminating food groups. Just discipline even when motivation is lacking. She advocates responsible choice over the long haul which does include responsible cheat days. I learned about front loading calories because metabolism slows for sleep. Her section on sleep and how hormones released during sleep impact hunger was totally new information for me. She promotes protein powder and gym membership which I don't see as feasible or desirable in every situation. But I recommend this book for anyone who wants a realistic, non-glamorous approach.

I really like the tone of the narrators voice and speed that she spoke. The book had a lot of great tips on how to eat better and get your levels right. I have to blood work in a few months so I'm hoping I get my numbers down. Defiantly recommend to anyone looking to get there health in check.
