I love the concept, and it was a good listen overall. However, there were several instances of sentences being re-read that should have been edited out, and I could have done without the reading of reviews at the end. I'm curious how the "MacGyver Secret" will work for me.

An Interesting Concept

The book is pretty good if you are interested in more self help and less anything actually having to do with MacGuyver. In short, it’s a formula for helping your brain percolate ideas. Probably the most interesting take-away for me is putting words to a problem by writing down a question. How often do I go about trying to solve a problem without ever asking the question, “What problem am I trying to solve?”

The strangest part of this audio book is the errant multiple takes - the author clearly does the same line two or three times, all throughout the book. Its as if they forgot to edit the audio, or only had a swiss army knife, an audio casette, and a limited amount of scotch tape to edit with. It’s the first time I’ve experienced such a lack of editing on an audio book! Tsk tsk!

Its also unfortunate that since it’s publishing in 2016, the website for this book and it’s research has gone defunct. I would have been interested to see what kind of results it did (or didn’t) get.

If you want a short book on ideas and inspiration and are a fan of MacGyver, I’d recommend it for a few bucks.
