The Magic Altair

Zoie and her cousin Savannah are joined by their grandfather Potsy for the cross-country trip from Utah to Missouri and Whispering Oaks. On the way, they plan to make this a touring vacation. Their first stop is the Four Corners where Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado all touch.

Savannah picks out a very special bracelet to buy. The clerk tells her that there is a great legend about the bracelet. "It has magical powers, and it is very dangerous unless it 'picks' you. If it picks you, you will have magnificent magical powers, and you will become the Altair. If it does not, you will experience headaches and nightmares. This is the third time I have sold this bracelet in the last five years. You may return it if it does not agree with you.”
