There's some shady business in Shady Creek, Vermont, this spring - in the third mystery by USA Today best-selling author Sarah Fox featuring pub owner and amateur sleuth Sadie Coleman....

Sadie is delighted to have booked famous romantic-suspense novelist Linnea Bliss for an event at The Inkwell, her literary-themed pub, housed in a renovated grist mill. The author and her personal assistant, Marcie, are staying at Shady Creek Manor, a grand historical hotel that was once a private mansion and is rumored to still hold hidden treasure somewhere within its walls.

But the hotel's storied past is nothing compared to its tragic present when Marcie plummets to her death from an open window on the third floor. After Sadie discovers signs of a struggle in the room, it's clear that someone assisted the assistant out the window. But Marcie is new in town - who would have a motive to kill her?

In between pulling pints and naming literary-themed cocktails, Sadie takes it on herself to solve the case, wondering if the crime is connected to the vandalized vehicles of a film crew in town to do a feature on local brewer Grayson Blake, with whom Sadie shares a strong flirtation. Or could the poor woman's defenestration have anything to do with the legendary treasure? As Shady Creek Manor prepares for a May Day masquerade ball, Sadie is determined to unmask the killer - but when she uncorks a whole lot of trouble, will she meet a bitter end?

Seems written by a young adult for young adults. Lots of descriptive, unnecessary detail leaving me impatient to get to the story, for crying out loud!

Not my kind of book

I enjoyed catching up with Sadie and this cast of characters. They are all so relatable, even the curmudgeons. I particularly enjoyed the developing relationship between Sadie and Grayson and his willingness to join in on her sleuthing. All together an entertaining time. The next is pre-ordered, and I am looking forward to it.

I love the Literary Pub Mystery series and The Malt in Our Stars is my favorite yet! It has everything I love about cozy mysteries especially wonderful characters, friendship, a mystery that kept me guessing and a little romance. Sadie Coleman owns The Inkwell and they make interesting book themed mixed drinks. The Inkwell is hosting author Linnea Bliss for a book event and signing. Linnea’s assistant Marcie Kent falls to her death while at Shady Creek Manor Hotel. Sadie, her new boyfriend Grayson Blake, her Aunt Gilda and friend Shontelle try to figure out what happened to Marcie and what is going on around town. Aunt Gilda is distracted and has a big decision to make. Grayson has been traveling for work and is involved with the TV show featuring his brewery. Vandals are targeting the TV show. It is all keeping Sadie very busy! I loved every minute of this book and series! I got both the ebook from the library and the audiobook from Audible. The audiobook narrated by Eva Kaminsky is very well done! The characters come to life and the voices fit the characters. Very enjoyable! #TheMaltInOurStars #LiteraryPubMystery

The Malt in Our Stars is ok but Sadie is annoying beyond belief. The romantic aspect of the book is immature and too much time is spent on it. The mystery aspect is slow paced but ok. I'm not sure if I will get the next book.
