Finalist in the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards

Clay Bauer, at the age of 38, is a second-rate actor in Hollywood. He's too mean-looking to get leading man roles in movies, so he's resigned himself to playing only villains.

While filming a low-budget Western in the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona, he hears about the vortices there -- places of power where people claim to have strange experiences, even traveling to other dimensions.

He doesn't believe any of it -- until he accidentally passes through a vortex and is transported more than 100 years into the past. Suddenly he's faced with playing the most important role of his life. Only this time, it's for real.

This was a quick time travel/romance story. The MC is a fairly well know, and type cast, movie villian who travels 100 years in the past before coming back with a girl that he slowly develops feelings for ... now the question is ... will she stay for him or is our current time so corrupted and scary to make that work. The girl is pretty tough in her own time, but when so much is new and strange, she finds herself struggling to not panic, despite all of the great wonders she sees. This really ... Really ... builds on the idea that the past is so much more wholesome and good than today ... something that we often like to believe, but generally is not true. Still ... it was a fun diversion and there were not that many desperadoes in sight ... despite the black hat

This story was a fun adventure but a bit predictable. Still, I did enjoy it as well as others from this author. I love time travel stories.
The narration was very well done. I love Jonathan Waters’ performance as always.
