In the winter of 2018, Lindsey Cole set out to swim 120 miles of the River Thames as a mermaid for a plastic awareness campaign after she cut her hand on a small piece of plastic whilst freediving in Indonesia. Along the way, she subsequently rescued a drowning cow and made national news.
