The irresistible Pembroke Palace Series continues when a baby arrives on the palace doorstep, and the man deemed responsible is the most degenerate and rakish young lord of the manor, Lord Vincent Sinclair.

Cassandra Montrose cannot deny that she lost her head a year ago when she was whisked out of a London ballroom by the most desirable man she'd ever met. But now she is disgraced and desperate, and the father of her illegitimate child, Lord Vincent Sinclair, is engaged to another.

When Lord Vincent learns of his unbreakable bond with the passionate lover he knew for only one night a year ago, he soon finds himself drawn in. But with his inheritance at stake, he must marry the woman his father has approved. Perhaps there is a way to be with Lady Cassandra again, and return to the magic of their unforgettable night together. Will Lady Cassandra be willing? Or will her unshakable pride keep her from Vincent's bed forever?

One night stand that ends in an unplanned pregnancy..
I know this story line has been done to death, but mix in an eccentric father and a well meaning but scheming family and you get a light enjoyable romance

The Rake reformed and a love worth telling. I loved the characters, with their non judgmental personalities and, graceful appeal. The turning of a Rake to feel, adventure, and family support makes for the truest of treasures in this wonderful love story. 5 stars.

Beautifully written!

This is a beautiful story of love and family values.
The story illustrates how two people come together and slowly and cautiously build a relationship of value by both making changes to their opinions of each other and getting to know and trust each other more.
Soon love blossoms and flourishes and they build a true and everlasting relationship and this is when they find their own family values and ties.
Rosalyn Landor does a splendid narration and made this an easy to listen to audiobook which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I love Historical Romance novels and Julianne MacLean has outdone herself with this wonderful story.

A Beautiful Story

My only complaint is the journal entries at the beginning of each chapter. They were unnecessary, did not add anything to the story and were a bit irritating. The last book had journal entries but those were necessary to the story. I get that the title is the mistress diaries but she really wasn't his mistress until very late and the diary really did not have any relationship to the story.

I liked it

What made the experience of listening to The Mistress Diaries the most enjoyable?

Lord Vincent was a renowned Rake who always let it be known he was not marriage material. So, when he picked up a beautiful widow at a ball, although having the most sensational night in his life, he left before she awoke the next morning. He didn't see her again for over a year when she came to his residence, Pembroke Palace.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lady Cassandra Montrose. Although having high morals fell under the spell of Lord Vincent and was unable to resist the charming son of a Duke. Repercussions from the night she spent with Lord Vincent caused Cassandra to be driven from her uncles home and forced into poverty.

Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?

She portrays most of her characters equally well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

Although the mad Duke's family was dysfunctional, when faced with being disinherited if ALL brothers did not marry before Christmas, they pulled together to insure their brothers did not lose their inheritance because of them. They begrudgingly complied to the Dukes demands. The kicker; the brides must meet the Duke's approval. He chose the beautiful, self-absorbed, vindictive daughter of a Duke for Vincent's bride.
